Television veteran Gurucharan Singh (50), who played Roshan Singh Sodhi in the hit show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), is believed to have planned his disappearance well and moved out of Delhi, according to a report by News18, according to Delhi Police sources.
The actor was last seen around the Delhi airport on April 22, and since then his whereabouts have been a mystery. Complicating the investigation, Singh deliberately left his mobile phone in the Palam area, hampering efforts to trace his movements.
“On reviewing the CCTV footage, it appears that he had planned his journey very precisely, changing between e-rickshaws before leaving Delhi,” police sources told News18.
Earlier reports from the Delhi Police, based on surveillance footage, showed that Singh was last seen near the Delhi airport on April 22, carrying a backpack. Despite intending to fly to Mumbai, he neither reached his destination nor returned home.
Concern over Singh’s unexplained absence prompted his father to file a missing person report with the Delhi Police on April 26. Subsequently, an FIR was registered under Section 365 (kidnapping) on April 27.
His mobile phone has not been accessible since his disappearance.
All India Cine Workers Association president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta requested Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena to expedite the investigation into Singh’s mysterious disappearance on April 28.
Rohit Meena, DCP South West Delhi, announced the formation of a dedicated investigation team last week after a missing person report was filed.
“Gurucharan’s family had reported him missing since April 22. He was scheduled to travel to Mumbai but failed to do so. We have registered a case under Section 365 of the IPC. Our investigation team is actively pursuing leads, including analysing CCTV footage in which Singh is seen walking alone,” Meena told ANI.
